Which Cement?

Not all cement is the same. Choosing the wrong type can lead to cracks or unnecessary costs. Here is everything you need to know in simple language.

OPC
Ordinary Portland

Best for: Fast Work

OPC sets very fast. It is like the "sports car" of cement. We use it for columns, beams, and slabs where we want the strength to peak quickly.

  • High early strength
  • Use for RCC structure
  • Expensive than PPC

PPC
Portland Pozzolana

Best for: Long-term durability

PPC sets slower but becomes stronger and more water-resistant over time. It generates less heat, which means fewer cracks in your walls.

  • Superior crack resistance
  • Ideal for Plastering & Masonry
  • More Eco-friendly & Cheaper

43 Grade vs 53 Grade

"Grade" simply means the crushing strength after 28 days.

43

The All-Rounder

Perfect for general plastering, brickwork, and non-structural RCC. It provides a smooth finish and enough strength for residential needs.

53

The Structural Giant

Used specifically for columns, beams, and foundations of multi-story buildings where instant high-strength is mandatory.

How to check
Cement Quality?

The Squeeze Test

Take a handful of cement. It should feel smooth and cool. If it feels rough or grainy, it is poor quality.

The Color Test

High-quality cement should be a uniform greenish-grey. Dark black or earthy brown indicates heavy moisture.

The Float Test

Throw a pinch of cement into water. It should float for a few seconds before sinking. Quick sinking means impurities.

The "Manufacturing Date" Trap

Never use cement older than **90 days**. Its strength drops by 20-30% after 3 months of manufacture due to atmospheric moisture absorption. Always check the week/year on the bag!
